The 12 miler is a scenic single loop 12 ish mile race (more like 11 but feels like 16) using 90% of the trails within the park and 10% SCENIC paved road. Cutoff 8 hours. Starts at 8 am.
The 36 miler is a triple loop hard as nails, beautiful as heck, and really technical! You have 10 hours to finish.
THE ENTIRE STATE PARK IS CLOSED TO JUST RUNNERS AND PEOPLE WITH THE RACE!!!
The park is insanely beautiful. Run Bum himself helps maintain the trails. Here is what Run Bum says about the course he has designed…
“No one will break 6 hours (for the 36 mile) but I would like to see them try so I can laugh. For the other 95% of runners you will be blown away but the scenic beauty. You can see 3 different states from the state park. Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
I am making this as hard as possible. If this isn’t the hardest and most beautiful 36 miles you have done then I did something wrong. THIS IS PERFECT TRAINING FOR THE GEORGIA DEATH RACE!!! The course is 3 loops. And is more like 34-35 miles. But we’ll call it 36 so you don’t punch me afterwards for it being long. Though you might want to punch me because it is so hard. However the beauty will mask the pain.
