Foxfire Museum And Heritage Center Plant Walk

Thursday, May 16, 2019

Herbalist Patricia Howell, director of BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies is organizing this plant walk event.  Additionally, we will have various, well-respected herbalists from the region to lead our nature walks. We will explore the diversity of herbs and medicines native to the Southern Appalachian region, known as the “apothecary of the nation.” Foxfire Museum and Heritage Center have a multitude of plants hidden in plain sight to be discovered. These plants are long valued for both their healing qualities and as wild edibles. On this guided walk, you’ll hear their colorful stories, and learn about the role they’ve played in local history including folklore as well as why we still use many of them today!
We will be taking a short hike through the property so please wear appropriate shoes. https://www.foxfire.org/
